Today we’re excited to announce that Infoactive has been acquired by Tableau Software. When we founded Infoactive, our goal was to blend our passion for data and design to help people make sense of information. We’ve always admired Tableau’s mission to help people see and understand data; now we’re working together to pursue our vision on a larger scale.
We want to thank each and every one of you for being a part of this process and for teaching us so much. We know that we have a lot more to learn in the coming years, and thanks to you, we’re ready to take on that challenge.
At Tableau, we’ll have the opportunity to make a bigger impact in the world of data and design. We’re excited to be a part of the development team and will be leveraging our experience building great mobile and cloud sharing products.
To focus on our shared vision, we’ll be winding down Infoactive over the coming months, but keeping your existing infographics available online for a long time: we intend to leave them online until 2020. Below are more details:
Starting today, we’re no longer accepting new user signups or subscriptions.
Existing users can continue to use Infoactive on their current plans without restriction until August 31st. We’ll cancel monthly billing, so no credit cards will be charged after today.
Starting in September, you will no longer be able to create or publish new infographics. You’ll still be able to sign into your account and edit or delete existing infographics until the end of October. We’ll also give all users the ability to generate static screenshots of infographics, so you can download a static image of anything you want to save.
After October 31st, all infographics will turn into interactive snapshots. We’ll no longer support live data updates or the editing platform. However, we know that you put time and thought into your infographics and we want to keep the awesome infographics that you’ve built. We’ll keep your public infographics alive on the web until July of 2020 — that’s five full years of hosting, at no cost to you.
Wait, there’s more...
We hope you’ll join us as we continue to build products that help people see and understand data. We’re excited to bring you into our new community at Tableau. The Tableau Public team wants to welcome you too, so they created a special welcome page with information about a range of free, online tools that you can use for data visualization: https://public.tableau.com/s/welcome-infoactive
Of course, if you have any questions, please reach out to us at [email protected]
Thanks again for all of your support.
